My experiences and experiments 3 : Treatment you get when you are 1st

This is one of my recent experience (in around Sept, 2011) where I have started getting up early and decided to go office early in the morning.
Key benefits are:
  1. No traffic, no pollution.
  2. You can enjoy nature.
  3. You start your work early in office, no disturbance in office.
  4. High Productivity.
  5. High Quality work.
  6. High creativity when you are at peak of your energy level.
Apart from above benefits, couple of other observations I experienced which I would like to share to readers. These are indirect benefits.
Generally, I take bus from Goregoan station to Malad (our office on link road).
First day when I started getting up early and reached Goregaon station around 6: 15 AM. I was surprised to see few of our poor brothers sleeping in bus stop of Goregoan bus depo. It was dark and by mistakenly I was standing on wrong bus stop as the one I wanted to stand I guess was occupied by our poor brothers.

I started utilizing my time by starting reading book. Suddenly, I heard a loud voice, seems someone was calling me. I saw that bus driver of BEST (local bus service provider in Mumbai) looking at me and shouting. I approached him and asked what happened? He told that we are not taking bus to bus stop hardly 5 metres away so if you want to go where this bus is going, please join. Actually, I was standing at wrong bus stop and hence that bus was not the one I was targeting. I thanked him, apologized for my mistake and then went to right bus stop.

Major learning from this incident is that if you reach 1st anywhere you get special treatment. Even the place where probability is almost 0%. Bus drivers never asks anybody to catch bus and its not expected as well.
But since I was first and alone he made sure that I don't miss the bus.

So, Wherever you reach first and alone you get highest attention from other people. Get up early. Always try to reach before/on time in  any meeting. Only thing if we loose we can't get again is TIME. Value your time and others.

My experiences and experiments 2 : Journey in Mumbai Local Train

So readers might be thinking whats new about travel in Mumbai local? Nothing new but 'Lifeline of Mumbai" deserves something on my blog :-)

It's very common experience but I thought of narrating this so that our coming generation have something documented to refer related to Mumbai local.

When I was travelling in local 24th Nov, 2011 (which is my daily travel to my office), suddenly I was having little headack and I decided to avoid reading (which is my habit whenever I travel to use time effectively.)

I was observing people and amazed to see how our brothers and sisters were using their time in local. (This experience is of 1st class travel --> if readers are from Mumbai, they know very well that you can't observe anything in second class, as you yourself is under stress test. For benefit of readers from Mumbai, Mumbai locals are generally jam packed and travellers are really unique creatures of god as sometime it may be possible that you don't take breath but still alive :-) )

Following are few observation of act of colleagues:
  1. Smiling : I still don't understand how people smile and feel happy while thinking or may be without any reason --> It's good habit to have and I would like to learn this.
  2. Sleeping : This too I miss in noisy environment but I saw colleagues literally snoring.)
  3. Reading : This I do and it's really good habit and improves your concentration as well as environment is noisy. Real test of your concentration power :-))
  4. Chanting : Awesome!! There are 2 kind of chanting happens.
    • People do chanting within and hardly anyone gets disturbed.
    • People do chanting in group and loudly. This must be definitely disturbing the travellers but who have courage to stop them. Good part is : Whatever they are chanting if you will ask meaning of that I feel hardly they will able to explain you!!
  5. Mobile Game : Nice way to remain busy in yourself. Nice way to waste your time but at least others are not suffering.
  6. Mobile songs:
    • With earphone: Nice  way to remain busy and useful if you are listening some motivational / refreshing music without disturbing others. If listening sad songs, it's better to play game :-).
    • Without earphone : Sometime purpose is not listen song but to make others listen. Frustrate others with your unique choice. Railway recently requesting to avoid this :-)
  7. Making fun with friends: Enjoying with friends, cracking jokes.
  8. Upset : Few travellers I don't know what happened to them in morning at home (must be quarrel with wife). They look very tensed, upset and I feel ready to fight with anyone. (At home, they were looser so they want to win somewhere :-) )
  9. Conscious : Few are very conscious. They have nothing to do. They will not talk to anyone and do nothing and just try to make sure that nobody accidentally touches them. Their shoe polish remain intact. Press of shirt is nit disturbed. For them, Things own them in reality instead of they owning things!!

So, you must be thinking, these are general things and independent of local. But I experienced them in local and I don't want to take that credit away from Mumbai's lifeline otherwise there will not be much difference in me being software professional and politicians.

Conclusion: Lets do whatever you like while travelling. But make sure you effectively use your time. Be ready with a plan of effective utilization of your travel time AS in Mumbai you spend more time in travelling than at home (awaken time I am talking about) !!

My experiences and experiments

I am Dilip Kumar Dave working as a software professional. Subject of topic must be wondering the readers that :
  1. What kind of experiences and experiments I am sharing?
  2. Why I am doing this?
  3. Why somebody should read this?
I am not too sure whether I have correct answers to them as it's recent idea came to my mind and I decided to take it forward (as someone says --> A mediocre idea if worked upon is better than big idea which you have never acted upon.)
Let me try and answer to questions raised above:
  1. These are general experiences I am getting in my day to day life and small experiments which I do.
  2. Experiments which I am conducting are influenced by my latest reading on "Mahatma Gandhi". His book "My experiments with Truth" is really inspiration and it's giving another face lift to my life.
  3. I being common man till now it's better that you learn from my experiences and experiments and see my journey over the top. Till now I am an ordinary person but soon you will see there will be a dramatic upward moment in my life. Right now you can travel with me and reach on top later on you will be mandated to read but you may need to travel alone :-)

My experiences and experiments 1 : Child – A Natural King

Child – A Natural King
This is one of my personal experiences which I observe with my Kid and it amazed me.
One of my hobbies is to read materials /attending trainings on positive attitude development. As part of this, I have started repeating certain statements like “I am the King of this world” daily morning as spoken words which you listen have more power and impact on your thought process.
One day same statement I was sharing in front of my son and then he repeated same. But again when I repeated he told that: Daddy, I am the King of this world so you please say “Hitesh is the King of this world”. I tried to convince him somehow that you are mine son so you can become “Prince of this world” and let me be King. But all my efforts were in vain and he mentioned that if you want to become Prince I am fine but I will remain King.
This above small incident makes us realize that when we are child, we are just like King. It’s when we grow, get more experience, more fears come into picture and it dilutes our talent.
Message is: “Live life, King Size”. Biggest risk is that we don’t take risk. Embrace your fears!!
